WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Due to continued growth of our major programmes, we have an exciting opportunity to join our In Support Services Trials Team. As a Trials Engineer, you will be working as part of a dynamic team, conducting a variety of vehicle level tests or trials. Your role will be ensuring that testing is undertaken safely in an accurate, repeatable and robust manner, in accordance with the agreed test specification and that results and or data is accurately recorded. Working closely with users, technicians, and engineers you will be heavily involved in verifying and validating the vehicles performance against the requirements. You are likely to spend periods of time working on customer sites or independent proving grounds, whilst operating in a highly customer facing role. This role will provide you with various personal and professional development opportunities. Position Duties and Responsibilities Completing and working to risk assessments and safe systems of work. Ensuring the safety of the trials in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy Planning of tests including authoring of Test Specifications in accordance with ISO and Defence Standards Planning and implementing instrumentation and data acquisition to produce quantitative data using sensors such as Strain Gauges, Accelerometers, Thermocouples or displacement transducers. Whilst using various data logging equipment e.g. Racelogic VBOX, HBM-EDAQ Conducting robust and repeatable verification and validation of in-service and future military vehicles by working as part of a deployed team to deliver a wide range of tests such as: Mobility, Reliability, Survivability and Environmental (hot/cold/dust) Conducting root cause investigations to diagnose and resolve issues. This may include reviewing video or data sources, interrogating vehicle systems or reviewing user activities Conducting and / or reviewing analysis of results Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including; internal, MOD and suppliers Authoring technical reports presenting the findings from the aforementioned tests and investigationsWHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE Essential Engineering background in electronic/electrical, mechanical or systems Vehicle testing experience ideally the land vehicle domain Strong appreciation of health and safety Hold a Full UK Drivers Licence Proficient user of MS OfficeDesirable Knowledge of military vehicles Working experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems Health & safety qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely Experience in writing technical reports, for example test specifications, test plans or trial reports Hold a Category H (Tracked Vehicle) and/or Category C (heavy wheeled vehicles) licenseWHAT WE OFFER YOU Our employees receive a competitive benefits package and work for a growth organisation that offers great opportunities for personal development and career advancement.
