White Trees School is a specialist education provision for pupils with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in East Hertfordshire. We offer education to a wide range of pupils with a variety of additional needs. We take great pride in helping them achieve their potential and support them either on a one to one basis or within a small group. We are expanding our provision and are now recruiting for teaching assistants to help support our young people with their educational provision both in the classroom or external to the school. Responsibilities and Duties; As a Teaching Assistant, your role is to support children with their learning and general wellbeing to ensure every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment. Where necessary this may include supporting with positive behaviour management adopting a tailored approach to the individual child. You will be expected to establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn during their time at the school. To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times. You will support the class teacher and contribute to providing high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning Skills and Qualifications; Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate: Experience working within an educational setting or working with young people with SEN/SEMH/ASD/EBD Ability to manage challenging behaviour and remove obstacles to learning that the young people may use to impede their education Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work both in a team and independently and the passion to make a difference in young people s lives. Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures Able to maintain a purposeful, organised and supportive environment that works in conjunction with lesson plans Using strategies and understanding of individual capabilities to support the pupil s learning goals in conjunction with the teacher/tutor Our team are dedicated to building brighter futures for our young people, if you feel this is something you could help us to achieve we would love to speak with you
