Job Title: Haematology Administrator

Trust Location: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Location: Churchill Hospital, Oxford, OX3 7LE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm but can offer flexible / condensed hours if needed

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Welcome patients and visitors to the ward in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer the telephone and take messages from patients, doctors, clinical staff etc ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with and responded to. Maintain a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients and relatives in view of the delicate nature of the disease.
  • Ensure that all admissions and discharges are entered onto the hospital EPR system in a timely manner and that ethnic data is captured to achieve the Trust's target of 100%. Provide challenge to nursing staff when insufficient data is provided.
  • Update patient's notes as necessary with correct demographic details, ensuring there is a supply of sticky labels and wrist bands with correct information, if possible, prior to the patient's admission.

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

  1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
  2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
  3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation

You'll have the following skills/experience:

  • Excellent communication skills- both verbal and written
  • Microsoft office skills- Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Experience with NHS Systems
