SALARY: £27,717 - £32,130 per annum

LOCATION: Devizes, Wiltshire - this role involves traveling across the South, West and East of Wiltshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37 hours per week (Flexible approach to hours due to possible travel including occasional weekend and evening work)

PLEASE NOTE: Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is essential to this role

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Community Engagement Volunteer Coordinator who ideally has a track record of engaging with voluntary organisations and working with volunteers, with sound knowledge of the children and families voluntary sector and excellent communication skills.

Working as a Community Engagement Volunteer Coordinator you will promote and develop strong local partnerships across Wiltshire, particularly with grass roots organisations delivering services to families and their children, and with schools. The aim is to develop a self-sustained community model within the charity's reach area.

As a Community Engagement Volunteer Coordinator you will promote recruitment, development and retention of volunteers and encourage volunteering as a way back into employment.

DUTIES

Your role as a Community Engagement Volunteer Coordinator will include:

  • Developing strong local partnerships with schools, early years settings and other relevant community organisations with an aim to develop a self-sustained community model within the organisation's reach areas
  • To promote recruitment, development and retention of volunteers and to encourage volunteering as a way back into employment
  • Support the EPEC Hub CEVCo where appropriate with aspects of delivery of Being a Parent
  • To co-manage the volunteer support and coordination across county
  • To work with schools and community providers to map and support delivery of services to Reception aged children
  • Work with Children's Service Managers, Children's Services Leads and Volunteer Coordinators, to ensure effective volunteer school mentoring programme

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • General education to GCSE standard preferably including Maths and English Language
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development/training relevant to the post
  • Experience in engaging strategically and working in partnership with local voluntary and community organisations
  • Experience of working and liaising with other professionals within in a multi-disciplinary service setting
  • An understanding of community development practice
  • In depth knowledge of safe volunteer recruitment and processes
  • Working knowledge of health & safety issues especially relating to volunteers and risk assessment
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of equal opportunity and diversity
  • Proficient IT skills in database, word processing, MS Office including PowerPoint, internet and email
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - effective in a variety of settings and range of people
  • Effective persuading, communicating and interpersonal skills to gain commitment, confidence and compliance
  • Demonstrates an excellent customer service approach
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • A car driver and access to a car for work purposes
  • Willing to undertake regular travel within Wiltshire
  • Flexible approach to hours due to occasional evening and weekend work, possible travel and supporting the needs of colleagues and service users
